Prayer Flight
Covering the USA with Prayer from the Air during the National Day of Prayer
[05.01.2008] by Dick Blondin

Servant Air Ministries partnered with PrayerFlight.org to cover the USA in prayer during the national day of prayer on May 1st, 2008. SAMI pilots Chris Tompkins and Dick Blondin flew out of Merritt Island [KCOI]to pray for every community in the county as we flew over.

PrayerFlight is a group of men and women who have joined forces to pray over our cities, states and nation from the unique perspective of flight. They believe that it is from this perspective in flight that allows pilots and passengers the opportunity to observe God’s awesome creation. It also reminded them of their duty to pray for our fellow man, cities and nation. It is the Mission of PrayerFlight to do the Will of God as written in II Chronicles 7:14; “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

God has blessed man with the gift of flight and it is this unique perspective from the air that brings to mind the many glories of His creation and our obligation to seek His face and will through prayer. God’s Word is Truth and through our prayers and intersession, He will deliver our nation and beyond.

Dick and Chris had a beautiful day to praise God and bless our communities of Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Rockledge, Viera, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Titusville, Kennedy Space Center, our state and the USA. As they flew over each of their surrounding communities they asked God to bless the people, the travelers on the highways below and the community governments that make major decisions for our neighbors and ourselves. They also prayed for the safety of our communities and the strength of our homes with the hurricane season soon arriving. With major changes upcoming to the Shuttle and Space Program, many of our neighbors will be affected. They prayed for the security of jobs, development of new opportunities and the future of the Space Program. What a wonderful way to look over our own area and bless the people we affect and that affect our own lives daily. “This will be a continuous prayer each time I fly over our community,” Dick Blondin said.

It was a great opportunity to Serve God in this way. SAMI prays and hopes this dedication to prayer is experienced around the country, and becomes a mainstay for the beginning of each flight we make.
