Removed engine cowling. Replaced oil fill tube assembly with new PN: 56C23075 using new gasket PN: 72059. Function and leak checks accomplished satisfactory. Reinstalled engine cowling.

Pilot reports surface control flutter.

More details about the discrepancy from the pilot flying:

Airspeeds were 60-80 kts

Item 1: I felt it through the ailerons and rudder. After takeoff I felt moderate vibration in the rudder pedal (typically feel this till wheels stop) but this vibration persisted even after hitting brakes to stop the wheels.

Item 2: The ailerons felt a bit off. When I went into a bank the tension varied and it felt like there was a dead spot when I turned the yoke.

Item 3: Also the elevator may be stiff. During post light the elevator stays in the up position when typically they will fall back down

Repaired by Merritt Island Aviation. See logbook entry dated 12-03-2025 for details of work performed. (Nose wheel was found out of balance, replaced and re-balanced. As a precaution, we also re-balanced the propeller assembly)

It’s possible that the tension variance was due to the Garmin autopilot Electronic Stability and Protection (ESP), which engages the aileron servo to prevent excessive banking. It’s been reported by pilots in the past that this system engages earlier than anticipated making steep turns impossible without temporarily deactivating the system protection.

Merritt Island Aviation and found to be a characteristic of the Garmin elevator autopilot servo which is always connected to the main cable system through the bridle cable.

Note: An operation check flight was performed and the aircraft was found to exhibit no unusual flight characteristics. Please provide any details to maintenance if the issue occurs again in the future.

Pilot seatbelt latches, but the latch will release by itself with minimal force

Investigated discrepancy and found foreign object obstructing the locking mechanism. Removed the foreign object and pilot’s seat belt now functions normally.
